Thursday 24 July
- Offley Place
From the very first time I met Vikki
and Mark, I felt like I'd known them for years. So I was really
looking forward to being part of their big day. Yes, their
wedding was on a Thursday but that certainly didn't stop their
guests partying hard!
I frequently photograph at Offley so
know my way around and how the day will usually run. But every
wedding there is so different that it keeps me on my toes
and I like to find new locations to use for photos.
The registrars who conduct the ceremonies
at Offley are also great. So long as I don't get in the way,
I'm allowed to move around, get in close, even use flash (not
that I need it in the conservatory).
The bride and groom also challenged me
to create a heart shaped group photo featuring all the guests.
Not to give all my secrets away, but it did involve a bit
of planning and garden plant tags!
Formal stuff is one thing but Vikki and
Mark had also asked Lee Smith from walkaboutmagic
to come along and entertain the guests. I also made sure that
they got the confetti shower shot they wanted.
The wedding breakfast was decorated with
goldfish bowls full of flowers and the couple had chosen to
just use simple table numbers rather than a theme. Mark had
everyone in stitches during his speech, especially with the
gift he presented to Vikki... a rather saucy apron!
At Offley the sun dips behind the trees,
so you never get a full on sunset. However any golden evening
light and long shadows are beautiful for photos.
My photos can't do justice to their first
dance, as you really had to be there to appreciate the fun
and humour they put into it. However I am pleased to have
captured the 'ta dah' big finish!
