Saturday 2 July
- St Mary's Henlow and Letchworth Hall Hotel
A local wedding ... it's so nice when
I spend the day only a few miles down the road. Nicole got
ready at her parents house which is in the same village as
me. If it wasn't for the vast quanties of camera kit I lug
around I could have walked!
Joe and the boys were already at the
church when I arrived all smartly attired in their blue suits
... which was definately the colour to be seen in this year.
Note, brown shoes are also back in fashion!
It's usually the groom that feels the
need to stop at the pub on route to the wedding but on this
occasion it was Nicole and her dad who had a quick stop off
at The Crown! I'd photographed at St Mary's a few years ago
with no restrictions on shooting during the ceremony. However
a change in the vicar meant I was told I wasn't allowed to
this time after the bride got to the front of the church.
I did however find the upstairs 'creche' room from which I
could shoot unawares, although this was from behind glass
and with a stained glass window. Bit of a challenge to say
When Nicole arrived at the church it
had started to rain, so I spent the whole ceremony trying
to see what the conditions were doing outside. It was one
of those days when you can have blue skies one minute but
a downpour the next so I tend to try and take opportunties
when I can rather than sticking to a specific time scheule.
Down the road at Letchworth Hall I think
I upset the venue manager! Rather than letting him announce
the couple into the bar for drinks I was quite adamant that
I needed them for photos that minute. To be honest, I was
right as minutes after these photos were taken the skys turned
black, thunder rolled and the heavens opened!
I see many different table ideas but
when your new surname is 'West' I loved that the couple played
on this and used compass directions. However, I don't think
Joe was hugely impressed with his cake topper likeness ...
You'd be forgiven for thinking that the
weather was like this all day ... Nicole's dogs were allowed
on site (complete with bow tie and flower corsage) that evening
and seemed to love being part of the day as much as I did!
