Saturday 2 August
- Malmaison Liverpool
Mike and Paul's wedding was a weekend
of firsts for me. I'd never been to Liverpool before so it
was great to explore places I'd heard of or seen on TV. I'd
also never photographed a civil partnership but approached
it in exactly the same way as I do any wedding.
The whole hotel's colourscheme is purple,
so everything matched perfectly. I'd even bought a new top
to co-ordinate! The couple met with the registrar before the
ceremony and then walked down the aisle together.
Mike and Paul included a sand ceremony.
This was brilliant, a lovely way to signify two separate people
joining together ... ohh and you get something to decorate
your home with too!
Luckily the hotel had the perfect balcony
to photograph a big group photo from, without any guests getting
too close to the waters edge. However I then took the couple
off for some photos to a nearby bridge and then onto the riverside
as we hadn't expected the weather to be so good.
The wedding breakfast looked amazing
with a mix of low and tall flower arrangements. The tables
were each named after a James Bond film, each with a mini
movie poster in a frame.
Just a short walk from the hotel is the
iconic Royal Liver Building where we stopped for a few photos
and a bit of a boogie (Heather Small from M People was belting
out tunes at Liverpool Pride across the road)!
