Saturday 3 January
- Down Hall
This was my first time photographing
at Down Hall - although I'd heard much about it and seen plenty
of photos. Mind you, given that Karen and David choose the
3rd January to get married I was more interested in what the
interior was like as wasn't expecting much opportunity to
shoot outside. Thankfully the getting ready rooms, landing
and staircase were perfect for pictures.
Downstairs, just off the lounge, the
Prior Room was set up for the ceremony. The couple choose
a festive red colour-scheme with plenty of sparkle and the
venue's numerous Christmas trees matched a treat! Karen was
walked down the aisle and given away by the couple's eldest
Following the ceremony, guests mingled
and had drinks in the lounge. This included hot chocolate
which proved a hit... and not just with the kids. Music was
provided by Paul Arnold on the piano (www.pianopaul.co.uk)
whilst the family group photos were taken.
I'd been keeping a close eye on the drizzle
and when it cleared there was just enough time for me to grab
the bride and groom for some time alone outside. Well, it
would have been a shame not to have spent a few minutes in
We returned (needing to warm up) to find
the Selwin Suite all set up for the wedding breakfast so the
bride and groom got a sneak preview of everything including
their cake. Mark the toastmaster (www.yourweddingtoastmaster.co.uk)
made sure that the guests gave the couple a huge welcome as
they entered for the meal.
The speeches were particularly fun to
capture as Sophie did an excellent job in embrassing her parents!
After a quick turnaround and the addition
of an LED dancefloor the evening party was good to go. The
sweetie table made sure everyone's sugar levels were kept
topped up and I'm sure the party continued well into the night!
