Friday 7 August
- Offley Place
Hayley and Glenn's wedding was such a
lot of fun. What I hadn't anticipated was that Hayley is not
particularly keen on insects and flying things... So she had
to deal with a couple of wasps going for her bouquet during
the ceremony, butterflies in the rose garden and then a swarm
of flying ants drawn to her white dress in the evening. It's
the first time I've had a bride literally pick up her dress
and run screaming away from me! I'm sorry Hayley - but yes
of course I got shots of her running - being the professional
that I am!
With everything taking place at the one
venue it was easy to nip up and down the staircase to get
photos of the groomsmen and the conservatory all set up. Not
to be outdone by the girls Glenn chose three bestmen and two
ushers, note that he however managed to get away without wearing
After sending all eight bridesmaids to
the front first, Hayley was guaranteed a big entrance. It
was lucky that there was plenty of room, as the train of her
dress filled the aisle beautifully. It did mean however that
I stayed in one place to photography, as to relocate would
have meant jumping over it!
Set up outside was a friend's band -
yes that is one of the bridesmaids singing. Thankfully the
weather was great so everyone was entertained whilst endulging
in drinks and canapes whilst I took some group and bride and
Now I'm not complaining ... but I think
the Pimms had done a good job! After taking the more formal
photos at the front of the house we returned to find everyone
ready for a laugh. I don't normally get such a good (and loud)
response when I do an all guest photo but these guys were
great and particularly enthusiastic with the confetti throwing.
The conservatory was now set up for the
wedding breakfast, complete with flower filled birdcages on
the tables. Each of the female guests received a nail varnish
(pink of course) whilst the men a miniture bottle of rum.
Whilst thankfully the flowergirl didn't manage to get her
hands on either, she did completely cover herself in chocolate.
Each of the bestmen did their own speech but in short there
were dodgy photos shown, props and clothing handed out and
even some audience participation!
We took a quick evening walk before the
evening party kicked off. This kiss photo was taken literally
seconds before the flying ants attacked! I loved that the
DJ lit the conservatory with pink uplighters to match the
wedding colour-scheme and he made sure that the fun aspect
continued right through the day - including boys vs girls
