Saturday 16 July - Kelmarsh Hall

Jo and Andrew

Looking back to Gemma and Rachel's wedding, my over whelming memory is that it was hot! We'd met up to do a pre-wedding shoot back in April and even that was unseasonally warm, so it definately set a theme for everytime I got them in front of the camera. Gemma got ready at her parents house in Milton Keynes which meant being ready super early as it was a good hour long journey to Kelmarsh.

Kelmarsh Hall is a stunning building and only open to the public on certain days. With its carpark set away from the main driveway it's never obsured with vehicles so it looks even more impressive. I met with Rachel who'd decided to wear a blue suit rather than a dress, but cleverly linked it to Gemma's outfit with a lace shirt.

Both girls had their own big entrance to the ceremony on the arms of their dads. Having been in hospital only the day before, Gemma's dad was thankfully well enough to walk and hand her over to Rachel.

One of the best things about these style buildings are the steps. Perfect for group shots and taking a break when you need a sit down. The couple supplied loads of confetti but walking through it, with drinks in hands, meant quite a bit of it ended up in their champagne.

Any couple who books VW camper vans as transportation will always get a big thumbs up from me. I even got a go in one when we took the girls for a drive and stop off in a farmers field!

Back at the hall there was still plenty of time for the more formal photos and a quick tour of the walled gardens. I think most of the guests went exploring too as rounding them up for dinner was interesting. I think the venue needs to invest in a dinner gong!

The girls wanted a rustic theme to their reception and this was acheived with the use of wood, wicker hearts plus hessian and lace jars filled with flowers. The cake was considered to be a mystery as whilst they had discussed with the maker the sort of thing they were after, they left the design completely up to them.

After dinner, with the heat of the day starting to fade, the couple were able to take some time out and take in the views from the gardens before the evening party commenced. There was some proper high energy dance routines going on which I loved ... ok ... maybe joined in with!
