2014 - Tewin Bury Farm
I've photographed at Tewin Bury Farm
on many occasions - usually with multiple weddings going on
- but Carly and James chose Good Friday and rather unusally
had the whole place to themselves!
I met Carly at the the Bride wedding
show at Knebworth this January. I think she literally blitzed
the fair and booked most of her suppliers in one go, flowers,
photography, evening entertainment ... even the dress!
The Tythe Barn is the larger
of the two barns but that doesn't mean you have to have hundreds
of guests. It works just as well for smaller numbers and Carly
and James decorated the beams with jars of flowers to add
to the rural setting.
I don't think Carly stopped smiling all
day. In fact the whole ceremony was such fun and I love it
when a bride and groom constantly hold hands throughout. The
groom's brother and sister in law performed a poem that had
everyone in stiches.
Thankfully Tewin has a mix of paved,
gravel and grassy areas - so dependent upon conditions there's
plenty of places to take photos. If it has rained, then group
photos on paving is so much better than asking ladies to ruin
their shoes, and sink into the grass.
As we had the run of the place, we went
off for some photos around the gardens. Carly had suggested
we get James to pick her up at some point... which he managed
The barn was then turned around for the
wedding breakfast where the menu differed for the ladies and
men. Everyone raves about the food at Tewin so no wonder I
saw plenty of ladies stealing sticky toffee pudding.
The evening disco was put on by Mr H
so I knew it was going to be good. I'd had warning that Carly
and James had been practicing their first dance and it was
amazing - complete with lifts, drops and some proper Strictly
Come Dancing moves.
