Friday 24th October - St Marys Hornchurch and Gaynes Park

Caitlyn and David

Caitlyn was maid of honour at a wedding I photographed last October, and Kerry then returned the favour this year. There were so many personal touches and things to photograph that I don't think I put the cameras down once.

The ceremony took place at St Mary's Catholic Church in Hornchurch - only a 10 minute drive from their home. On arriving, a space had been left in the carpark for me which was much appreciated however I did have to warn David that Caitlyn was going to be around 30 minutes late so not to panic!

I just loved their priest, who not only made up some of the delay but was just so enthusiastic - especially on announcing them husband and wife!

On exiting the church the bride and groom choose to release two doves from their hands whilst the parents got to open a basket full - all of which flew straight at me. Swiftly followed by us all getting covered in confetti too!

After a drive through the Essex countryside to get to Gaynes Park, Caitlyn and David asked for a few photos of them with their 'fleet' of vehicles before taking a walk around the grounds - there's no shortage of places for pictures at this venue.

The barn had been dressed with drapes and a chandelier alongside plenty of candles and twinky lights. Guest seating was also on the mezzanine level which gave them a great view of the speeches.

Darkness fell during the meal but at Gaynes this means that other areas get lit up - perfect for night-time photos. Mr and Mrs was also projected onto the wall for their first dance - plus, in my opionion, LED dancefloors are just amazing! To honour her South African heritage Caitlyn had arranged for zulu dancers and drummers to come and put on a show for everyone.
