- Missenden Abbey
Two weeks after photographing at Missenden
Abbey for the first time, I was back again for the wedding
of Anna and Alistair. Whilst their ceremony was held at the
local church, Anna got ready at the Abbey which went so smoothly
that she was ready well ahead of schedule!
Many guests simply walked to the church
and back - although I admit to taking the car due to the amount
of kit I carry around - Anna and her dad arrived in a really
cute vintage car. During the ceremony Alistair's sister sang
and it was like being transported back to the 1940's as she
has an amazing voice.
On exiting the church I used the side
doorway for the more formal photos and a lovely bench for
the bride and groom to sit on. Although as you will see, wearing
a veil coupled with a little breeze can make for some interesting
Back at the Abbey we stopped for a drink
and some photos with the car before taking a stroll around
the grounds... and a spot of croquet along the way.
Speeches were done from the stairs in
the garden room as the restaurant is split over two rooms.
So after childhood and university stories were recounted,
I got all the guests on the lawn for a group photo - the quicker
they got the photo done - the quicker they got their dinner!
Not ones for a standard disco, Anna and
Alistair decided on a ceilidh for the evening entertainment.
The good thing with this is that you get told what to do throughout
but it can get really messy at times which adds to the fun.
